ACCRA — History remembers Jerry John Rawlings as a charismatic Flight Lieutenant who led two coups d'état, but his early aspirations leaned toward a much more peaceful sanctuary.
Baffour revealed that Rawlings frequently viewed life through a surprisingly philosophical and spiritual lens, deeply rooted in his upbringing. "He believed very, very strongly that he was a Catholic," Baffour shared. "There were times he openly said that if he hadn't been a soldier, he would have been a priest."
This spiritual grounding meant that the late president frequently pondered the afterlife and the moral weight of his earthly decisions, challenging the singular historical narrative of him purely as a man of military force.
