SNAKE IN THE GRASS: Ofori Amponsah Reveals a Trusted Friend Betrayed Him — Spreading Lies to His Partner Behind His Back

Iconic Ghanaian Highlife Singer, Samuel Ofori Amponsah has revealed how a trusted friend he considered close allegedly betrayed him by sharing private information about his activities with his partner.

The highlife musician said the betrayal became one of the most painful experiences of his life and contributed to a period of depression that affected both his personal life and creativity.

Ofori Amponsah said he had trusted the friend so much that they spent considerable time together, including travelling to shows and socialising.

But he later discovered that the same person had been reporting his activities to his partner.

“You believed in somebody so much that you realized that this person was just a sneak grass. He was killing you behind your back in the industry,” he said.

Clarifying that he was referring to his personal relationships rather than the music industry, Ofori Amponsah said the betrayal deeply affected him.

“I had this, you know, relationship problem that sent me, you know, spiraling down,” he said.

According to Ofori Amponsah, the friend would allegedly tell his partner about what happened whenever they attended shows, including encounters with women.

He said the situation became even more serious when the friend allegedly began influencing his partner’s perception of their relationship.

“I’m just painting a picture,” he said, explaining that he was not telling the full story but was describing what happened.

Ofori Amponsah said discovering the betrayal left him devastated and unable to concentrate on his work.

“I was so down. Seriously couldn’t even write a song again. I didn’t have the inkling to write it. I was so down. It was that bad,” he recalled.

The emotional turmoil eventually contributed to his decision to seek spiritual intervention.

He said he was grateful that he turned to prayer during the difficult period rather than allowing the situation to push him further into destructive habits.

“So if I say I went for prayers to solve that solution and not to see me on the street smoking and drinking, I give thanks to God,” he said.

‘Everything happens for good’

Despite the pain caused by the betrayal, Ofori Amponsah said he does not view the experience entirely negatively.

“Everything works together for good. Everything happens for good,” he said.

The experience, he suggested, became part of a difficult period that ultimately forced him to confront his emotional struggles and seek a way to recover.
