SRC PRESIDENT How Dr Cryme Became Methodist University's Student President

Long before completing his Business Administration degree at Methodist University Ghana, Dr Cryme had already become one of the institution’s most recognisable ambassadors.

He just didn’t realize it would eventually make him student president.

Reflecting on the journey with Kafui Dey, Dr Cryme described his election as something bigger than politics.

“The story was written in heaven before I was born,” he said.

Students had reportedly encouraged him to contest from his first year, but he kept dismissing the idea.

“I like doing things in the shadows.”

Instead of campaigning early, he focused on promoting the university wherever he went. “I made a conscious effort to put the school on the map”, he said.

He joined recruitment activities, visited other schools and proudly represented Methodist University during interviews and public appearances.

Unknown to him, students had been paying attention.

By the time nominations opened, many believed he was already serving the university long before holding office.

Once elected, he approached leadership as service rather than status. “This position is not possession”, he explained

One of his biggest priorities became communication.After joining the university council, he realized students often misunderstood decisions simply because nobody explained them properly.

“I made sure whatever it was, the students had to know.”

Looking back, Dr Cryme says leadership wasn’t about fame.It was about listening.
