The singer shared the hilarious misunderstanding during his interview with Kafui Dey.
After winning the competition, Kidi returned home to tell his family about the prize.
But according to the singer, his mother understood “GH¢100,000 recording contract” very differently.
The following day, he had to explain that the money was not about to land directly in the family bank account.
“No, no, not — it’s not 100k. It’s a 100k recording contract,” he told her.
Her response only made the situation funnier.
“I thought they’d give you 100k,” she reportedly said.
Despite the misunderstanding, KiDi’s mother was firmly behind her son’s dream.
He recalled how she went from initially being sceptical about the competition to becoming one of his biggest supporters, rallying family members and people in their community to attend the grand finale.
The victory ultimately became the turning point that launched Kidi’s professional music career
