STILL KICKING: At 78, Miatta Fahnbulleh Is Still Making Music With a New Generation of Artists.

Age has not slowed down Liberian music legend Miatta Fahnbulleh.

At 78, the celebrated singer, songwriter and African music custodian is still creating new music, experimenting with fresh sounds and working with younger artists.

Speaking with Kafui Dey, Fahnbulleh revealed that her latest project, titled “Still Kicking It,” reflects her belief that creativity has no age limit.

“Still kicking it means I’m still here,” she explained.

For Fahnbulleh, the phrase is not just a song title, it is a declaration that she remains passionate about music and still has much more to offer.

The project, recorded in Ghana, blends elements of highlife, palm wine music and traditional African sounds.

She also revealed that she has collaborated with younger musicians, including emerging Liberian artists, as part of her effort to connect generations through music.

One of the highlights of the project is a remix of the classic song “Amos Sakisa,” featuring younger voices and a modern twist.

Fahnbulleh said working with younger musicians allows her to keep learning while also passing on her experience.

“I wanted to do something with the younger generation,” she said.

The legendary performer believes music should continue evolving, and she is excited about the possibility of blending her decades of experience with new sounds.

Even after more than 60 years in the industry, Fahnbulleh insists she is not finished.

Her message is simple: the music continues.
